Obtaining Pre-Authorization / Pre-Certification can be an extremely time-consuming process and is ultimately an extremely important part of successfully collecting from insurance companies.

HealthQuist believes that by providing this added service to our clients, we are able to help reduce their workloads, so they can focus on what is of absolute importance Ė providing the best possible patient care. The most cumbersome aspect of obtaining pre-authorizations is the amount of time that the office staff will spend on the phone obtaining authorization.

Each specialty requires a custom-tailored process towards obtaining authorizations. HealthQuist is currently handling the authorization process for a number of different types of specialties.

Below is a of the process behind a few of the specialties (this is not comprehensive):

Psychiatry:
  •   On the initial visit, the office will send us a form with the patientís insurance information and we will call
         the insurance to check eligibility and find out whether authorization is required as per their plan. Please

  •   Subsequent visits, the provider will indicate whether patient is coming in for therapy, medication
         management or a mix thereof and we will obtain authorization accordingly. Since the visits are
         recurring, we will continue to obtain authorizations as visits are being used.
  •   When a patient exhausts their benefits, we will notify the client that the benefits have been exhausted.

Pain Management:
  •   On the initial visit, the office will send us a form with the patientís insurance information and we will call
          the insurance to check eligibility and find out whether authorization is required as per their plan.

  •   If procedures are required, the providerís office staff will fax us the Pain Management Authorization form
         and we will obtain authorization for procedures as necessitated.
  •   In the case of workerís compensation and no-fault claims, we will follow the requirements as per the
         plan and ensure that the provider is aware that authorization is required prior to every visit.
